February 19, 2021

The federal government will ship one million doses of the Coronavirus vaccine directly to 250 community health centers nationwide, and eventually, to 1,300. Dan Palka, administrative director of AHN Homeless and Poverty Medicine says that the health centers' relationship with the community has never been more important because these centers understand the needs of the populations since they've become a community resource.
According to the
article by CBS Pittsburgh homeless people and those with limited English language skills will be given priority. The article assures it will take some planning when people don't have a transportation method or a computer. "We may not see them again," Palka admits. Despite all the bad news, having vaccines in community health centers is incredible news.
Palka shares how much of a challenge it's been, having to deal with so many daily calls for information; something that could only increase in the upcoming months, since the federal government plans to ship a million doses to these centers.
